Fans Worry About Susan Boyle After Mental Breakdown
June 1, 2009 – It seems all the pressure was too much for Susan Boyle. The unlikely star of “Britain’s Got Talent” has been admitted to a private clinic after she suffered an “emotional breakdown” at her hotel yesterday.

Boyle, 48, seemed destined to win the competition over the weekend but like American Idol’s upset, was beat out by the dance troupe Diversity.

Since surprising everyone with her rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" from "Les Miserables” about a month ago, Boyle has been the media darling of not just the UK, but the world. Her song was downloaded over 200 million times. She has appeared on most of the big talk shows including Oprah but the whirlwind seems to have taken its tool on the singer.

Police are saying they responded" to doctors attending a woman under the mental health act." Boyle was voluntarily taken by ambulance to a clinic.

Since her rise to fame “Britain’s Got Talent” show organizers have been concerned about her ability to cope with the pressure that comes with such fame. Judge Piers Morgan witnessed Boyle break down in tears several times leading to this weekend’s final show. It was also reported last week that Boyle went on a swearing tirade after becoming upset.

Boyle was starved of oxygen at birth leading to minor brain damage.

Four million votes were cast for the finals, Diversity won with 24.9 percent while Boyle received 20.2. Diversity won $160,000 and will perform for the queen.

Meanwhile, Boyle’s success still seems a sure thing with reports that she will soon sign with Judge Simon Cowell’s Syco Music Label plus some writers are working on a movie about her life.

It’s expected that Boyle will keep a low profile for the next few weeks after being tagged, "exhausted and emotionally drained." – by John Beaudin

Kelly Clarkson Defends American Idol and Susan Boyle
May 27, 2009 – The very first American Idol is defending the mother camp. Kelly Clarkson doesn’t get all the hoo-hah about Idol contestants with previous professional experience. "I personally think if someone has been affiliated with the industry, who cares?” She told the Associated Press in Hong Kong this week. “That just means they've been working hard and trying to get in the door," Clarkson said. "Regardless, you're going to be an amateur talent. It's not like you've had a huge record deal and toured the world. It's not like they're going to be some huge threat."

The 27 year old is on a world wide promo tour to spread the word about her new album “All I Ever Wanted.”

Clarkson is still very much a fan of American Idol and catches the show whenever she can. More

Susan Boyle Closer to Winning “Britain’s Got Talent”     Bookmark and Share
May 24, 2009 – There may be no stopping Susan Boyle. The Scottish firecracker who amazed the world last month on “Britain’s Got Talent” returned to the show tonight, this time to perform “Memory.” Again the YouTube sensation stunned the audience and the Judges with her new performance gaining her a spot in the finals next week.

After her rendition of the famous “Cats” tune Judge Simon Cowell said, "You are one special lady, I have to say, you really are.” Boyle received another standing ovation and said this time she wasn’t too nervous, “What pressure?" she said, “It was really good tonight, I really enjoyed it ... I'm very happy to be here and thank you all for your support."

Some believed Boyle’s recent makeover would hurt her “Evelyn-Everybody” image but there was no back-lash in sight tonight. Congrats to Susan!

Simon also apologised to Boyle saying, "You know what, I just want to apologize because of the way we treated you before you sang the first time," he said. "You made me and everyone else look very stupid and I'm very happy for you, very proud for you." – by John Beaudin

Where’s My Teeth? Britain's Got Talent Creates Unlikely Star – Susan Boyle     Bookmark and Share
April 17, 2009 – A week ago Susan Boyle was just an unemployed charity worker living alone with her cat Pebbles in Blackburn, West Lothian. The 47 year old is now the most talked about singer on the planet after her historic audition on the ITV1 reality show `Britain's Got Talent.'

The Scottish woman was laughed at as she walked on stage. Even judge Simon Cowell rolled his eyes before her audition. The unassuming Boyle looked completely out of place and admitted she’d never even been kissed, but then, she sang and everything changed. If this isn’t a reality check about our idea of what makes a star then we’re all doomed and sentenced to listen to Heidi Montag forever.. Her rendition of `I Dreamed a Dream` from the musical `Les Misérables` was delicious, honest and a complete surprise to everyone, not only in the audience but, around the world.

The video has now gone viral and her YouTube hits have surpassed 25 million. The world has fallen in love with Boyle. Even Broadway legend Patti LuPone gave her a huge thumbs up a few days later on The Early Show. More
