Gwen Stefani Feels Safe in London
June 6, 2010 – In a world where the paparazzi are more common as corn Gwen Stefani says privacy and safety are more important than ever, especially for her kids. The No Doubt singer, who is married to former Bush lead singer Gavin Rossdale, says London England has brought her security and convenience.
Stefani says, “I don’t drive when I’m there and I like that. It’s a different lifestyle to be able to walk to the little village and get milk. I take Kingston to the gym with me, with no nanny or assistant and that would be very rare in Los Angeles – that I could actually go somewhere on my own. Things can get out of hand with the paparazzi, so I don’t feel safe.”
She adds, “I miss my family when I’m in England. And when I’m in Los Angeles, I miss the role I have when I’m in London. Usually I’m not working in London, so Gavin spoils me and I get to be really dependent.”
Though her husband’s culture is something she appreciates Stefani especially sees the effect it has on their two children. She told InStyle Magazine, “I can’t do an English accent – I can’t even pretend. But kids are like little sponges. Once in a while, Kingston will pick up a word, like, 'I’m going to have a bahhth.’ And I’m like, 'Really? A bahhth?!” - by John Beaudin |

No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani Blames Eating for Lack of New Music
May 19, 2009 – No Doubt kicked off their comeback tour this past weekend in Las Vegas all dressed in white. P Diddy and golfer Tiger Woods were in the audience and reviews were generally great. The band however is touring without a new album. Gwen Stefani told Billboard.com that she blames that on eating too much, "My plan was to get pregnant and write a record, but instead of writing, I just ate all the time,” she says.
Stefani has a reputation of hating the songwriting process, "Writing is always really hard for me -- I hate it and hate it and then I do it, and I'm happy it's done.” She and the band hope the juices will flow during their summer tour.
Let’s clarify that the four members of No Doubt have been busy since their last album, “Rock Steady” in 2001. Stefani’s two solo albums easily proved that she had the goods to be a superstar. According to Nielsen/SoundScan, 2004’s "Love. Angel. Music. Baby.," sold 4 million copies, and 2006’s "The Sweet Escape," picked up 1.7 million in sales. She also became a bonafide fashion designer with her clothing line and, oh yeah, she had two boys, ages 8 months and 3 years.
Tony Kanal, the bassist worked with Stefani as a co-writer on her solo outings and also worked with Pink. Drummer Adrian Young enjoyed the good life by golfing most of the time in between session work. Guitarist Tom Dumont did some documentary work and produced two albums.

No Doubt Looking for Inspiration for New Tunes
May 8, 2009 – It’s been 8 years since No Doubt released an album of new material and with an upcoming summer tour the band is looking for new inspiration, hopefully on the road.
"These are all steps in the process of making the record," bassist Tony Kanal told MTV News. "That's what this tour is. And it's kind of cool, because it's nontraditional. Usually, you make a record, and you go on the road. And there's something sort of challenging and exciting about the fact that we're doing it a little bit differently this time around. And, of course, when we do something, we can't really do it small, so here we are doing 55 huge shows, but I think it's going to lead into us making a great record, and I really honestly believe that. Once we reconnect onstage and reconnect with all the people who have supported us, I think it's going to inspire us to make an amazing record."
Gwen Stefani said, "I think it's really super-rewarding to write music, For me, personally, it's the magic of the whole thing. It's something you don't have control over. Every time that I've ever written a song, it's always a miracle. I go, 'Wait, how did I write that?' And I think that's the journey we're on right now, is to figure out how to do it again. And I do that every time, and I know that, but it's this whole writer's block, frustrating and tortured process. But the reward of that — especially if it's a hit, and you know it right away when you write it if it's going to be — there's kind of nothing like that, because you're creating something. It is like having a baby, in a way, because it's something that's there permanently, that you created and comes through you and... I think that's what we're all aiming towards."

No Doubt Gets Back Together
Nov. 24, 2008 – When No Doubt gets back together will they perform that crappy ‘Hollaback Girl?’ Probably. Gwen Stefani and the boys of No Doubt are reforming for a tour in 2009 to promote an album that the band has been putting together most of this year.
On their official website, they made the announcement via pretend text messaging.
"I have cabin fever. Maybe we should play some shows or something," guitarist Tom Dumont wrote. Vocalist Gwen Stefani answered, "I think we should go out now. I don't think we should wait. Pack up the babies and get a bunch of nannies. So fun! Would be so inspiring to get out there and play all those songs again."
Stefani has been too busy as a mother lately to participate in the new album. She gave birth to her second child in August.
No Doubt’s last album was ‘Rock Steady’ in 2001 and they haven’t played together live since 2004. Stefani released two solo albums, one had that crappy ‘Hollaback Girl’ tune which I can’t freakin’ get out of my head. The other guys appeared on Scott Weiland’s solo album. – By John Beaudin
