Rod Stewart and Faces to Reunite Nov 14, 2008 – There may have been a few missteps in Rod Stewart’s career but fans of his old band the Faces are saying his gig next Monday isn’t one of them. It’s a practice rehearsal with the other surviving members of the Faces and it could be the start of a full-fledged reunion. It’s a big deal. Not only are they an iconic group but it’s been 30 years since they split.
Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones will see how it all feels after the practice on Nov 17th. Bassist Ronnie Lane died in 1997. He will be replaced by Stewart's touring bassist.
The Faces were an incarnation of the Small Faces minus Steve Marriott and including Stewart and Wood who came from the Jeff Beck Group.

Rod Stewart is in a fighting mood on hearing his daughter Kimberly’s ex, Jude Law is rebounding with English model and actress Lily Cole. Britain Daily Mirror quoted a source as saying, “He loves Kimberley to bits and is very much the protective father.” The bottom line is Rockin’ Rod actually liked Jude Law and he was optimistic on the pair making it work. The source says, “She thought something might develop between them,” but now that all hell’s broken loose, “The next time he sees Jude he’s likely to give him a piece of his mind.” It’s got to be hard to be in love in the public eye, even harder if your daughters in the same situation. Not that long ago Stewart called comedian/actor Russell Brand a liar at the GQ awards after rumors got out that Kimberly slept with the comedian. Russell later apologized. Some of his early tunes had its fair share of twang and `You’re In My Heart` would make a great country hit. Needless, Rockin`Rod plans to record R&B Country tunes for his next album. The 63 year old says it’s a great idea but his record label J Records doesn’t want to put out a country album, "There's a Country and Western album I'd love to do, although the record company doesn't want it," he told Reuters. The singer who has a whole new career doing standards will kick off a mid March tour in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and stretch the gigs into April in Atlantic City. (Details below) Stewart who debuted for the first time at No. 1 on the Billboard charts with "Stardust: The Great American Songbook, Vol. 3" has no plans of stopping the momentum. (His last No. 1 was 1978's "Blondes Have More Fun.") He plans on releasing a new DVD package on Tuesday entitled, "One Night Only! Rod Stewart Live at Royal Albert Hall." The concert was recorded earlier this year. Special guests include Chrissie Hynde and Stewart's former Faces bandmate, Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood. Keep in mind the current Stewart tour also revisits his classic hits like "Maggie May," "Tonight's the Night," "You're In My Heart," and "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy." Things are not all good in the Stewart camp the singer recently lost a case against a promoter who sued to get a tour deposit back. Stewart collected $780,000 for a tour of Latin American that never happened and a U.S. jury ruled last month that Stewart had to repay the amount.

Stewarts new and third CD of standards "Stardust - The Great American Songbook: Volume Three" is set to enter the Billboard charts at No 1 next week. J Records says Stewart's album, has sold 240-thousand copies its first week out. The singer's last No. 1 was "Blondes Have More Fun" in 1979. Stewart told the press that obviously he's happy that the fans are accepting his new direction but being at the top spot has given him the biggest of smiles and a twinkle in his eye. In the "what goes up must come down" section of the story Stewart is being sued by a concert promoter for canceling a Latin American tour and keeping their deposit. Stewart was in court in Los Angeles this week to testify. The promoters claim they paid the singer 780 thousand dollars as an advance for the tour but they never received the cash back after the cancellation. Stewart counter-sued, saying he should be paid the full amount because he couldn't book other shows during that time.
Rod Stewart Recruits All Star Cast For Songbook 3 September 23, 2004 - It's hard to say no when you're on a roll. Rod Stewart announced after the release of 'Great American Songbook 2" that he was finished with standards but after another success he's doing it again. Stewart will release "Stardust, The Great American Songbook Vol. 3" on October 19 and this time he has a lot of company. There'll be some big names on this one including Stevie Wonder, Bette Midler, Dolly Parton, Eric Clapton and Dave Grusin. The first two albums debuted at No. 4 and No. 2 respectively in the USA. The Great American Songbook Volume 1 sold 2.6 million units in the USA according to SoundScan and Volume II sold 2.1 million. With the list of talent on the third CD Stewart should have no problem maintaining the momentum of the series. Midler will join Stewart on "Manhattan," Clapton is featured on "Blue Moon" and Wonder will sing on '"What a Wonderful World." The "Songbook" albums have been Stewart's most successful album in over a decade. Here's what BMG Chairman Clive Davis said, "Quite simply, Rod inimitably captures wonderful classic standards, breathes new life into them and makes them his own. Stardust: The Great American Songbook: Volume 3 will be its own gem. It's sparkling, fresh and alive, with Rod being more and more comfortable in this great genre of music."

Rod Stewart is packing his bag and bringing along a smorgasbord of all the hits on the next leg of his tour. Stewart is clear to point out that this is not an exclusive 'Great American Songbook' standards tour. It will segue from different eras from the disco of 'Do you Think I'm Sexy' to the Jazz of 'Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered.' So far Stewart has released two albums in his 'Great American Songbook' collection. He recently went on record and said he will probably go back to current pop songs on his next album.

The 58 year old rocker is currently seeing 32 year old model Penny Lancaster says while he gets dumped on for the age difference fellow rockers in the same boat are left alone. "What pisses me off is they never have a go at Paul McCartney for marrying a younger woman ... but they kill me because of Penny," he said. McCartney, 61, is 26 years older than his wife Heather Mills, the same age difference as between Stewart and Lancaster. "Perhaps it's because he's got a knighthood," Stewart added. "I don't know why I haven't got any honor. I do my bit for charity." He also complained at being passed over for a Grammy award in favor of British rival Sting, calling him "Mr. Serious who helps the Indians," Elton John, another singer with a knighthood also earned Stewart's disapproval for not inviting him to his parties. Dubbing him "Sharon," Stewart took a swipe at John's appearance and weight. "My hair is nice and real and looks it, and hers doesn't. No, I take that back. "The Great American Songbook: Volume II will be released Oct. 21 via J Records and Stewart has gone on record to say this will be his last standards album. The new one will have 14 tracks including a duet with Cher on "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered." Other songs Stewart tackles are Jimmy McHugh and Dorothy Fields' "I'm in the Mood for Love," John Turner, Geoffrey Parsons and Charles Chaplin's "Smile," the Herman Hupfield-penned "As Time Goes By" and a song popularized by the Flamingos', Al Dubin and Harry Warren's "I Only Have Eyes for You." Also covered is the George & Ira Gershwin favorite "Someone To Watch Over Me" and Meredith Wilson's "Til' There Was You." Like the first, "Songbook 2" was produced by Richard Perry, Phil Ramone and Clive Davis. Songbook Volume 1 has sold 1.7 million copies so far in the United States and 4 million worldwide and debuted at # 4 on Billboards Top 200 album chart.
Rod Stewart Gets His Own Musical June 20, 2003 - If Abba, Queen and Billy Joel can do it why not Rod Stewart? It looks like the idea of basing a whole musical on an artist's body of work is growing steam with news that Rod Stewart is next in line. The musical called "Tonight's the Night" will feature twenty two of Stewarts biggest hits. The singer caught a sneak peak of the production in London last week and called it "astounding" after giving the show a standing ovation. As for writing a whole musical from scratch like his buddy Elton John has done, Stewart said, it just didn't interest him. Some of the people behind the hit Queen musical "We Will Rock You" are behind the Stewart production. "Tonight's the Night" will open at London's Victoria Palace Theatre on November 6th. Stewart is currently charting on Smooth Jazz radio with his album of Jazz classics "The Great American Songbook."
Rod Stewart's New Love For Standards Feb 17, 2003 - Rod Stewart's new album is a long way from 'Do You Think I'm Sexy' and that suits him fine. One of the reasons Stewart decided to do an album of standards - he sings much lower now. Stewart like his old pal Elton John (in 1986) recently had throat surgery to remove a benign growth on his thyroid. For nine months, he couldn't sing at all and his throat sort of forgot what it was supposed to do and he had to re-teach it. As a result he's a half-tone lower now -- but he likes that.
