After Great Tragedy Corinne Bailey Rae Bounces Back With New Album
The 37-year-old Grammy winner is breathing clear air and is hopeful for the future for the first time in a few years.
In 2006 she came out of the gate like a thoroughbred with her self title album featuring, “Put Your Records On.” The album sold 4 million copies but on March 22, 2008 her husband of an accidental overdose
Rae told People magazine, “I felt like I lost everything, like I’d lost my whole life,” Jason Rae died from mixing alcohol and methadone that was prescribed to a friend.
Anyone who has lost a spouse knows this type of pain. Rae says, I had family putting food in front of me and just literally looking after me on a day-to-day basis.” There’s one thing about pain however, it’s not so patient – it eventually moves on.
She has since remarried . Her producer husband Steve Brown was an acquaintance for years and one day things just clicked. They wed in 2013 and the pair co-produced her new album, “The Heart Speaks in Whispers” which is out today. The project was inspired by “losing the weight of grief” and the “preciousness of life.”
She says the new tune, “Stop Where You Are,” is about living in the moment, “Life is full of things that you can’t predict. Be here now. Enjoy the ride.” – by John Beaudin
