Former Stone Temple Pilots Singer Scott Weiland Dead at 48

scott_weiland_9000Scott Weiland, former front-man of the Stone Temple Pilots, has died at the age of 48.

A message on Instagram simply said, “Weiland had “passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts”.

The singer’s manager, Tom Vitorino, confirmed his death on Thursday night.

Weiland had a long history of drug problems. He was found inside his tour bus just outside a motel.

He formed Stone Temple Pilots in the late 80’s. They sold 13.5 million albums. Weiland was also a member of the super-group Velvet Revolver along with former Guns N’ Roses members Slash and Duff McKagan.
