Oh, when galaxies collide! During an interview to promote her new album, “Joanne” Apple Music’s Beats 1 show, DJ Zane told Gaga: “There is another artist who has lived a very parallel existence based on this story, which I’m sure you can relate to.” Meaning Madonna and that seemed to trigger a few things for Gaga. Her response, “Madonna and I are very different. Just saying. We’re very different.”

Then came no disrespect to Madonna comment. When has, “No disrespect” ever ended good for anybody? Gaga continued,“I wouldn’t make that comparison at all and I don’t mean to disrespect Madonna, she’s a nice lady, and she’s had a fantastic huge career, biggest pop star of all time.”

Then she dug a little deeper, “I play a lot of instruments. I write all my own music. I spend hours and hours a day in the studio. I’m a producer. I’m a writer. What I do is different.”

If you’re gonna build a hole, build a deep vacuous hole ready to suck the life out of……Madge.

She continues, “There is spontaneity to my work. I allow myself to fail. I allow myself to break. I’m not afraid of my flaws.”

Its not a big stretch to compare Lady Gaga to Madonna…on a few tunes, remember how Gaga’s “Born This Way” sounding like it was stalking or profiling Madonna’s “Express Yourself?”

Madonna did respond by posting a Hillary Clinton on Twitter that read, “Can’t hear you. Too busy being awesome.” She captioned the photo, “Like a boss! LOL.” It’s since been taken down.

The playing instrument thing? Yes Madonna once played drums? A long time ago. Was she any good? Maybe but she’s not hitting the skins these days, Some say her dad made her take piano as a kid and she’s played on some albums and everyone is arguing on whether she’s actually playing guitar on stage but here’s the thing – Madonna fans don’t care and they don’t have to.

In a 2015 Madonna told Rolling Stone magazine that Gaga was, “A very talented singer and songwriter.” and admitted, “The only time I ever criticized Lady Gaga was when I felt like she blatantly ripped off one of my songs.”

If you think the last presidential debate was frosty check out the twitter war between Mother Monster and Madge fans.

From what I’ve heard of Gaga’s new album, it’s pretty good and should enter the Billboard Top 200 albums chart at #1 and she was great on Saturday Night Live this weekend. – by John Beaudin
